Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Croatia's Largest Solar PV Project Undertaken by NORINCO International | |||||||

On May 15, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Korlat Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Project in Croatia, jointly constructed by NORINCO International Cooperation Ltd. (NORINCO International) and Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Corp., Ltd., took place in Korlat. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Chinese Ambassador to Croatia Qi Qianjin, among other distinguished guests, attended the ceremony. On May 15, guests gathered in Korlat, Croatia, for the groundbreaking ceremony of the solar PV project. Also on May 15, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković delivered a speech at the ceremony. In his address, Prime Minister Plenković expressed his hope that the Korlat Solar PV Project would further deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen the ties between Croatia and China. Ambassador Qi Qianjin stated that the Korlat Solar PV Project would significantly contribute to the region's economic development, job creation, and improvement of people's livelihoods, while also supporting Croatia's energy transition and green development. The 99-megawatt Korlat Solar PV Project in Croatia is the country's largest solar project to date. Upon completion, it is expected to generate 165 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually and meet the electricity needs of approximately 50,000 households in Croatia. Additionally, it is projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 150,000 tons per year, thereby providing impetus for Croatia's energy transition and the development of a green economy. The project is scheduled to be connected to the grid and commence power generation in April 2026. | |||||||
