On the afternoon of December 18, 2023, the 40th Anniversary Event of China-Algeria Military Industry and Trade Cooperation was successfully held at the Military Museum of Algiers, Algeria, jointly sponsored by the Equipment Development Department of the Chinese Central Military Commission, the Chinese Embassy in Algeria and the General Staff HQ of the Algerian People's National Army, and hosted by NORINCO. The event was attended by the Equipment Development Department of the Chinese Central Military Commission, the Chinese Embassy in Algeria, the Organization and Logistics Department of the General Staff HQ of the Algerian People's National Army, the Military Production Bureau and other entities, as well as delegations from China’s military industry groups and military trade companies.

In his opening speech on behalf of the Algerian delegation, General Smaïl SEDDIKI, Director General of Organization and Logistics of the General Staff HQ of the Algerian People's National Army, said that the friendship between China and Algeria has a long history and in the last four decades, the collaboration between China and Algeria in the military industry and trade has been successful, and both parties aim to further enhance this cooperation in line with their shared vision. They aspire to use the 40th anniversary of the China-Algeria military industry and trade cooperation as a platform to elevate bilateral military industry and trade collaboration.

Major General FAN Jianjun, Director General of the Equipment Technical Cooperation Bureau of the Equipment Development Department of the Chinese Central Military Commission, said in his speech that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Algeria. At a new point in history, China will continue to assist Algeria in enhancing its national defense modernization, make further efforts in collaboration between their militaries, and contribute to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, aiming to create a brighter future together.

In his speech, LI Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Algeria, expressed the hope that through closer cooperation in military industry and trade, China and Algeria will continue to increase investment in technological innovation and R & D, make new breakthroughs in joint production and personnel training, create more high-quality and high-level cooperation projects, and strengthen the practical combat capabilities and coordination between the two military forces. Both sides will jointly improve their ability to safeguard national security and world peace.

The two delegations jointly watched the documentary produced by China and Algeria to review the 40th anniversary of China-Algeria cooperation, visited the 40th anniversary exhibition of China-Algeria military industry and trade cooperation, and completed the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Old photos of major China-Algeria military industry and trade cooperation projects and important activities show the historical evolution of China-Algeria cooperation since its 40th anniversary, as well as the deep friendship between the Chinese and Algerian peoples.
