On August 7, the "Commendation Ceremony for Contributors to Common Prosperity" was held in Pakistan as a part of the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The Lahore Orange Line project in Pakistan constructed and operated by Norinco International Cooperation Ltd., a NORINCO subsidiary, was granted the "Common Prosperity Contributor Award for the 10th Anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor". As one of the early achievement projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Pakistan's first subway, the Lahore Orange Line was constructed and put into operation along with the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the goal set ten years ago has finally been achieved. The contract for the Lahore Orange Line Project was officially signed in 2015; the project was jointly undertaken by China Railway Corporation and NORINCO, and financed by the Import-Export Bank of China. In 2020, NORINCO International took the lead in establishing a consortium to fully undertake the operation and maintenance of the line. In October 2020, the whole line was put into commercial operation, symbolizing the commencement of Pakistan’s subway era. Up to now, the Orange Line has been in safe operation for nearly 3 years, carrying more than 100 million passengers accumulatively, with the operation index being internationally advanced. Under the localization strategy, the Orange Line’s driving, maintenance and service teams are locally recruited, at an employee localization rate of 98%. This urban traffic truck line, which spans the north and south regions of Lahore and connects more than 10 million people, has provided a strong driving force for the downtown development in Lahore and has become a platform for technical exchanges between China and Pakistan, a stage for talent development and a channel for people of both sides to communicate with each other. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Lahore Orange Line’s team held various celebration activities and unveiled a new milestone for passenger transportation together with representatives of the owners of the Pakistani government, thereby encouraging China-Pakistan employees to continue to move forward hand in hand. A series of activities, such as "Public Open Day", "Subway Safety Month" and "Invite Media and Think Tank to Visit", were held at the station to provide warm-hearted service for passengers in a more open and transparent manner and deepen the understanding of ordinary people on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor; The "Cultural Exchange Day" was held for employees from China and Pakistan to further eliminate cultural barriers among employees, promote cross-cultural integration and build a more cohesive team.
