Over the past few days, Pakistan has been struck by severe flooding due to the monsoon season. NORINCO INTERNATIONAL Lahore Orange Line O&M consortium team in Pakistan has taken emergency measures immediately and actively contributed to the flood relief in Pakistan, practicing social responsibility with practical actions.

The Multan region in the southwestern hinterland of Punjab, where the Orange Line O&M project is located, is one of the most affected areas of Pakistan. In early September, floods washed away roads and houses in most villages and destroyed farmland, leaving villagers desperately short of food and necessities. Upon being aware of the situation, NORINCO INTERNATIONAL worked with Guangzhou Metro to immediately organize the procurement of relief supplies such as rice, flour, edible oil, medicine, and household goods.

In view of the difficult traffic conditions during the disaster, the project team set up a 21-member volunteer transport team to ensure the timeliness of transport. On September 6, 2022, the volunteer team drove 400km to the disaster area and delivered the relief goods to the local people, which greatly boosted the morale of the local people in their fight against the flood. "No matter what difficulties we encounter, China is always the first country willing to help Pakistan. Thank you for Chinese companies’ support and help, long live the friendship between China and Pakistan!" Local residents said and expressed their gratitude.

In the future, the Lahore Orange Line O&M project consortium will not only continue to build and operate the existing projects, but also actively practice its local social responsibilities, so that the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan will be deeply rooted in the mind of the local people, and the friendship between China and Pakistan will be passed on from generation to generation.
