Exposed under the scorching sun in the Mediterranean, the six teams arrived at different regions of Algeria and organized 59 ceremonial fireworks displays. That night, the sky across Algeria was lit up by the China fireworks show. The "director" of this grand display is China North Industries Corporation (the "NORINCO"), and as the main team members, 127 "fireworks professionals" from Hunan set off 760,000 fireworks they brought.

"I feel very fulfilled and very proud." Li Wei, a native of Liuyang, Hunan, said.

Li Wei came to Algeria on April 30 this year and coordinated the sorting, transportation, and trial set-off of these fireworks. However, the real preparation for the display started on the eve of this year's Spring Festival. "When I first received the assignment, I was under great pressure. I could not eat well or sleep well because the production and cross-border transportation of fireworks was greatly challenging due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic."

To accomplish their mission, NORINCO and these "fireworks professionals" started work early and made preparations quickly. In order to deal with the uncertainty brought by the pandemic, they repeatedly communicated with the shipping company, and the shipping company finally agreed to open a new maritime special line. As a result, the 20 large-sized containers full of fireworks departed from Liuyang by road and were shipped from the Shanghai port, arriving at Oran, the western Algerian city, one month earlier than originally expected, from where they were transported to various regions of the country.

Li Wei said that although the work for half a year was very hard, facing the dual challenges from the pandemic and staying away from home, all their fatigue turned into happiness when they saw the successful display finally. "It is a great honor for me to deeply participate in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Algeria's independence revolution."

Shipped from thousands of miles away and across the sea, the fireworks took only 15 minutes to display, compared with the history of friendly exchanges between China and Algeria, it was a short but unforgettable moment.

The fireworks project was undertaken by NORINCO at the request of the Ministry of Defense of Algeria. As the project leader, Li Jinxing said: "The cooperation between the NORINCO and Algeria started in 1983. In the past 40 years, the two sides have established an unbreakable partnership. We expect that by the successful fireworks display, we can make a new contribution to good relations between China and Algeria in the new era. "
